Dr. Frank Njenga is an Honorary Professor of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of Cape Town. He is  the Chairman of the Chiromo Hospital Group, the largest private psychiatric group in East Africa. He served as  Chairman of the National Mental Health Task Force, which reviewed the status of mental health in Kenya. He  was subsequently appointed Presidential Advisor on Mental Health in Kenya, during which time major strides  were made on the National Mental Health Policy, successfully amending the Mental Health Act (2022).  Working with the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), and following the 1998 bombing at the US Embassy in  Nairobi, Kenya, he led the operation recovery, which was the psychosocial response to the tragedy.  He has written extensively about other trauma events across the continent. He is the author of several books,  including Healing the Mind (2022) and his autobiography, City Boy: Chronicles of a Nairobi Life (2025). He also writes for children and the general public.
