Dr. Judith Kose Otieno is the Regional Programme Lead at the Eastern Africa Regional Coordinating Centre (RCC) of Africa CDC, where she oversees strategic coordination for infectious disease prevention, detection, and response across member states. A Pediatrician and Public Health Specialist with more than two decades of experience, she brings extensive expertise in infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and health systems strengthening.
Her work spans clinical and implementation science research, programme design, and the scale-up of integrated public health interventions that reinforce regional health security. She has contributed to the introduction of new health products, development of regulatory and governance frameworks, and stakeholder-driven health market shaping, aligning with Africa’s efforts to advance innovation and resilient health systems. At Africa CDC, she also provides regional leadership on Primary heath care, infectious diseases, NCDs, mental health, and MHPSS, reflecting a holistic approach to public health resilience consistent with the WHSRM focus on integration and interdependence. A recipient of the 2006 International Health Research Award from the American Pediatric Association,
Dr. Judith serves as an Academic Editor and is pursuing a PhD in Viroscience and Global Public Health at Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam.
