Dr. Jérémie Zoungrana serves as the Jhpiego Senior Director for the Latin Languages Hub and Country Director in Burkina Faso. He brings more than 25 years of leadership, program management, and technical expertise in large-scale public health initiatives across sub-Saharan Africa, with deep contextual understanding and strong networks in West, Eastern, and Central Africa.

He has led complex, high-budget portfolios in Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Nigeria, and directed the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Nigeria Country Office from 2021 to 2023. As Country Director and Chief of Party for multiple USAID-funded programs between 2005 and 2021, Dr. Zoungrana managed teams and budgets of up to $75 million. He has extensive experience with USG regulatory compliance, local capacity strengthening, policy advocacy, and health system improvement, contributing to national-level outcomes in maternal and child health.

Trained as a social worker, sociologist, and public health specialist, he previously worked with the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and Handicap International, focusing on youth engagement and inclusion of people with disabilities in community-based programs. His achievements have been recognized through awards such as the White Ribbon Alliance Global Champion designation and Knight of the National Order from Burkina Faso.
