Dr Abayomi Agbeyangi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Walter Sisulu University and a former Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cape Town, where he specialised in software systems for low-resource environments. His research integrates Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Digital Health, with a particular focus on telemedicine and context-aware AI systems for hard-to-reach and underserved communities.
He has authored impactful studies on telemedicine adoption in Sub-Saharan Africa, maternal health risk prediction, and offline-first digital architectures, with publications in Healthcare, IEEE Access, Informatics, and the South African Computer Journal.
Dr Agbeyangi also contributes extensively to the international research community as a peer reviewer for leading journals in AI, computing, and digital health, including Applied Soft Computing, International Journal of Telemedicine and Applications, Systems and Soft Computing, Health Information Science and Systems, Journal of Public Health Research, Frontiers in Public Health and PLOS ONE.
